Hi, I’m Penni, and I’m a foodie and a curious cook.

For the last twenty years, I’ve searched the world for the best food and wine I can get my hands on. I’ve learned about patatas bravas in Spain, lambrusco in Italy, and burek in Albania. I’ve sampled wines in Hungary, guinea pig in Ecuador, and visited a Parmigiano-Reggiano dairy in Parma. At every destination, I’ve talked to locals and learned about the history of these fabulous dishes and drinks. After all, understanding food helps you understand people and culture better than just about anything else I’ve found.

At the same time I’ve explored the world, I’ve combed my own backyard looking for local products. On the weekends, you can find me at farmers markets, making friends with chefs, and trying new local producers. In my free time, it’s all about experimenting with the tasty things I’ve found in new recipes.

Almost as much as I like to cook, I love to encourage others to try new things. It is so rewarding to help someone who’s used to Lean Cuisine and takeout learn that good food can be easy to make. Not only is it better for you than the packaged stuff, it’s more flavorful and less expensive. So many people are a little intimidated by the whole idea of cooking that it’s great to watch someone blossom into a confident cook.

Food is so much more than nourishment. It’s entertainment, love, and the current that flows through and supports my life. The joy of tasting something new or of sitting around the table together with family and friends is incomparable.

Thanks for coming by. I hope you learn a little about food around the world and discover some tasty recipes and foods that you can try with your favorite people tonight. Food and cooking together are things to be celebrated!
